Call Waiting (Top

If someone else is trying to call you while you're
already on the phone, Call Waiting will alert you with
a "beep." You
may then put the first person on hold while you catch
your second call. Now you can keep on talking
even while you wait for another important phone call.
Here's how your call waiting feature alerts you:
A beep tells you another call is waiting. Only you hears this tone. Another
reminder will be heard 10 seconds later if the waiting call remains unanswered.
The seconds caller hears only the normal ringing tone.
To answer the second call:
Depress the switchhook* for about one second to place your first call on hold.
You will automatically be connected with the second caller when you release
the switchhook.
To alternate between calls:
Depress the switchhook* for about one second to alternate between calls. Each
conversation is private and cannot be heard by the other caller.
To end either call
Simply hang up. Your telephone will then ring. When you answer it, you will
be connected with the other caller.
Call Forwarding (Top

Call forwarding lets you transfer your incoming calls
automatically to any other telephone you can dial with
in the continental U.S.A. without the assistance
of an operator.
To Forward Calls:
1. Listen for a dial tone.
2. Press* 72 (on a rotary phone dial 1172.)
3. When you hear a second dial tone, dial the number where you want to forward
your call.
4. When the number you called is answered your Call Forwarding service is
working.
5. If you receive a busy signal or no answer, hang up and repeat steps 1
through 3. 6. Two short tones tell you Call Forwarding is working.
3-Way Calling (Top

Now you can turn an everyday two-way phone call into
a three-way conference conversation.
To add a third person to your call:
First, depress the switchhook* for about one second. This will place the
first call on hold. Listen for the dial tone. Then dial the third person.
(Speed
calling codes may be used if you also have this feature.) When the third
person answers, you may talk privately with this person before you make the
call three-way.
To make the call three-way, depress the switchhook* for about one second
to add the person on hold. You three-way call is now underway.
If for some reason the call to the third person is not completed or you decide
not to add the third person to the call, depress the switchhook* twice to
resume your conversation with the person on hold.
To disconnect the third person:
Press the switchhook* for about one second. You will now have only the original
party on the line -- OR --If either of the other two people hangs up, you
can continue to talk to the one remaining.
To disconnect completely:
Simply hang up the phone.
Speed Calling (Top

Speed calling provides one-digit codes for up to 8
or two digit codes up to 30 of the telephone numbers
you call most. You can dial both local and long
distance with Speed Calling.
To place a 8 digit Speed Call:
When you hear the dial tone, dial the Speed Calling code (2 through 9) assigned
to the number you’re calling. If your telephone is Touch-Tone and equipped
with the pound symbol (#) key, press the code number and then the # key.
To place a 30 digit Speed Call:
When you hear the dial tone, dial the Speed Calling code (20 through 49) assigned
to the number you’re calling. If your telephone is Touch Tone and equipped
with the pound symbol (#) key, press the code number and then the # key.
To Add Or Change A Speed Call Code:
8-Code Speed Calling:
1.Listen for dial tone, then dial activating code *74 or 1174 (rotary/pulse)
2. Listen for a second dial tone, then dial the Speed Calling code number (2
through 9) this is to change or add. 3. Next dial the local or complete long
distance number you want assigned to that code number. 4. Two short tones indicate
the new code and telephone number combination have been recorded.
30-Code Speed Calling:
1.Listen for dial tone, then dial activating code *75 or 1175 (rotary/pulse)
2. Listen for a second dial tone, then dial the Speed Calling code number
(20 through 49) this is to change or add. 3. Next dial the local or complete
long distance number you want assigned to that code number. 4. Two short
tones indicate the new code and telephone number combination have been recorded.
To place a call:
1.Listen for dial tone.
2. Dial one of the Speed Calling Codes Number followed by the # button.
3. Your call will go through after a short pause.
Call Barring or Tool Control with PIN (Top
of page)
Call Barring will restrict long distance calling from your telephone line.
When you want to place a long distance call you may deactivate the Call Barring
service by using the code plus you personally selected four digit pin number.
After you have made your long distance call or calls you must remember to activate
the Call Barring service again with the code plus your pin number again. United
Telephone/Turtle Mountain Communications will not be responsible for any long
distance calls made on the line if the Call Barring feature is not activated.
The monthly charge for Call Barring is $2.50 along with
a service order charge to activate the feature. There will
be a service charge each time the pin number is requested
to be changed.
To make a long distance call:
Deactivate Call Barring: Press *96 plus your four digit personal code. (Rotary
phones dial 1196 plus your four digit personal code) then dial AFTER YOUR CALL
OR CALLS HAVE BEEN MADE YOU NEED TO ACTIVATE THE CALL BARRING FEATURE
Activate Call Barring: Press *95 plus your four digit personal code. (Rotary
phones dial 1195 plus your four digit personal code)
* The switchhook is the round, flat, square, or whatever sized button that
the handset pushes down when you hang up the phone.
You phone is "off the hook" when that button is up.
Caller ID (Top

You will be able to see who is calling before you decide whether or not to
answer the phone. With a Caller ID unit installed, you can store numbers that
called so you can use it as a message center. The Caller ID unit is available
as an add-on to your existing phone or you can purchase a special phone with
the Caller ID feature built in.
United Telephone/Turtle Mountain Communications provides
the service in conjunction with a piece of equipment that
connects to your phone line. This equipment stores local
numbers that called you so it can be used as a message center.
Even if you have an answering machine or voice mail, you
don't always know who called if they choose to hang up and
not leave a message. The Caller ID equipment will keep track
of their numbers.
Auto Recall (Top
of page)
Your phone rang, but you were unable to answer in time. With a touch, Auto
Recall will dial the last number that called you.
To Activate: pick up the phone and touch *69 (Rotary phones
dial 1169). If the called part is not busy, you will hear
a ringing tone. If the called party is busy, you will hear
a busy tone. Hang up your receiver. Your phone will alert
you with a distinctive ring when the called party's line
becomes available. Pick up the receiver and wait for the
called party to answer. If you do not hear a distinctive
ring within 30 minutes of activating, it will automatically
deactivate.
To Deactivate: just pick up the phone and touch *89 (Rotary
phone dial 1189). Listen for a busy tone and hang up. Auto
recall is now deactivated. Note: You may make other calls
while Auto Recall is trying to reach a busy number.
Auto Call (Top
of page)
You need to reach someone, but their phone is busy. Auto Call Back calls the
party you're trying to reach every minute for 30 minutes.
To Activate: pick up the phone and touch *66 (Rotary phones
dial 1166). If the called party is not busy, your call will
be completed. If the called party is busy, you will hear
a busy tone indicating that you have activated the service.
Hang up your receiver. You phone will alert you with a distinctive
ring when the called party's line becomes available. Pick
up the receiver and wait for the called party to answer.
If you do not hear a distinctive ring within 30 minutes of
activating Automatic Call Back, the service will automatically
deactivate.
To Deactivate: just pick up the phone and touch *86 (Rotary
phones dial 1186). Listen for a busy tone and hang up. Automatic
Call Back is now deactivated.
Note: You may make other calls while Automatic Call Back
is trying to reach a busy number, and you may have more than
one Automatic Call Back request active at a time. If you
deactivate Automatic Call Back, you cancel all attempts for
Automatic Call Back that currently exist.
Customer Originated Trace (Top
of page)
To Activate: IMMEDIATELY pick up the phone and touch *57 (Rotary phones dial
1157). Listen for a confirmation tone indicating that you have successfully
activated Call Tracing. The number of the last call you received will be recorded
by the law enforcement agency. If you complete another call or call waiting
tone before activating a trace of the annoyance call, you will trace the last
completed call, not the annoyance call.
Please keep a note of the times and dates in which you activate
successful traces (traces which you receive a confirmation
tone indicating that a trace has successfully been performed).
Contact the local law enforcement agency to handle the annoyance
call problem. There is a fee for each successful trace.
Additional Information: This service should only be used
to trace life threatening calls or calls which are of a harassing
nature in which you may want to press charges.
